That's where indexing comes in. Indexing is the process of a search engine, like Google, discovering and adding your page to its huge database. The good news? You don't have to wait! You can tell Google to check out your new page right away. Here's a simple, step-by-step guide on how to request indexing for your new posts using Google Search Console.
Step 1: Log In to Google Search Console
First, you'll need to have your blog connected to Google Search Console. If you haven't done this yet, you'll need to add your blog as a "property" and verify it.
Go to Google Search Console and sign in with the same Google account you use for your blog.
Once you're in, make sure you've selected the correct blog from the property dropdown menu at the top left.
Step 2: Find the URL Inspection Tool
This is the key to telling Google about your new page.
In the left-hand menu of the Search Console dashboard, click on "URL inspection."
Alternatively, you'll see a search bar at the very top of the dashboard that says, "Inspect any URL in [your blog's URL]."
Step 3: Enter Your Post's URL
Now, you'll need the exact URL of your new blog post.
Go to your blog and open the new post. Copy the full URL from your browser's address bar. For example:
https://yourblogname.blogspot.com/2025/08/your-new-post-title.html
Go back to Google Search Console, paste the URL into the URL inspection search bar, and press Enter.
Step 4: Request Indexing
Google Search Console will now check the URL. If your post is brand new, it will likely tell you that the URL is "not on Google." This is exactly what you'd expect.
On the results page, look for a button that says "Request Indexing." Click on it.
Google will then perform a live test to check the URL and its content. This may take a minute or two.
Once the test is complete, you'll see a confirmation message. It will likely say that the URL was added to a priority crawl queue. This means you've successfully told Google to come and check out your new content soon!
Why is it important to request indexing?
While Google will eventually find and index your post on its own, manually requesting indexing speeds up the process significantly. It's a proactive step that ensures your content gets seen by Google's crawlers quickly, helping your new post appear in search results much sooner.
